Who We Are
Canship Ugland Ltd. is a Canadian Ship Management Company located in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The company started its operations in 1997 when the first oil produced on the Grand Banks was transported ashore.
The Company manages six Dynamically Positioned (DP) Shuttle Tankers which load their cargoes at Hibernia, Terra Nova or Whiterose off the Atlantic Coast of Newfoundland. In addition the Company manages two local tugs and one bulk carrier designed for ice operations on the coast of Labrador.
The company has around 380 Canadian employees onboard the vessels and ashore.

Canship Ugland Ltd. is a joint venture of the J.J. Ugland Companies of Grimstad, Norway and Knutsen OAS Shipping of Haugesund, Norway. Both companies have their own long histories as ship owners and operators, and they have both been involved in the operations of DP Shuttle Tankers since Oil Transportation started from the oil fields in the North Sea in the 1980s.

J.J. Ugland Companies have long experience with world wide operations of tankers, car carriers, bulk carriers, heavy-lift vessels and barges.
Knutsen OAS is presently operating the most sophisticated and modern fleets of purpose built shuttle tankers, chemical carriers and product tankers around the world.
